How Deep The Father's Love

Comments

Yes, beautiful, and so true. This is my experience with Him. This is my knowledge of Him. This is my salvation and passion.

A song which brought me to sobs was sung solo at a Gaither family reunion by a tenor from a quartet acapella:

When He was on the Cross

I'm not on an ego trip
I'm nothing on my own
I make mistakes and often slip
Just common flesh and bone

but I'll prove someday just what I say
I'm of a special kind
When He was on the cross
I was on His mind

The look of love was on His face
this world for His death
the blood was on His scarlet robe
and it stained it crimson red

Though His eyes were on the crowd that day
He looked ahead in time
for while He was on the cross
I was on His mind

He knew me
yet He loved me
He Who's glory makes the heavens shine
while He was on the cross, I was on His mind
I'm so unworthy
of such mercy
still while He was on the cross
I was on His mind.

I couldn't find a copy on YouTube but this is the closest rendition to the original that I heard that day.

nobody else seems to be doing the song justice.
I'd do it myself for you if I could hold myself together long enough to get through it. I wish I could remember the guy's name that did the first one I saw.

Something we all need to think about now and then !!

You sing Judge? I'd love to hear you, choking up or not. I'd probably be right there with you choking up. I love the words...I'll check out the youtube video and get back to you.
I've never performed on stage, but yes, I love to sing. I prefer the story telling songs and the beautiful melodies like Portals. Another thing I like is the country style of worship songs. There is a group called 'Brush Arbor' who made it to the top ten on the secular country charts back in the 80's. They're hard to find, but well worth the effort. This is their signature song called 'Brush Arbor'

I was introduced to these guys at a Christian camp retreat. They're a bunch of good ol' Okies and I just love their style and message. Another of my favorites by them is called 'Swingin' Bridge'
Now that you've got me on the topic, I think I'm going to have to post and article on the music I like. Rarified country worship. Very few bands concentrate on this specific a genre but it is great to find a really good band that does.
I love this. I constantly listen for Christan songs to add to my iPod. And I restrain myself from raising my arms in praise as I walk to work in the city!!! :)

I have been on spiritual retreats this week. This is a lovely addition. I'll look up JudgeBob's song.

Thank you Infidel. Today this was like water to my parched soul. God bless.
