How deep the Father's love for us -
How vast beyond all measure -
That he should give His only Son -
To make a wrench his treasure -
How great the pain of searing loss -
The Father turns His face away -
As wounds which mar the Chose One -
Bring many sons to glory -
Behold the man upon the cross -
My sin upon His shoulders -
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice -
Call out among the scoffers -
It was my sin that held Him there -
Until it was accomplished -
His dying breath has brought me life -
I know that it is finished -
I will not boast in anything -
No gifts no power no wisdom -
But I will boast in Jesus Christ -
His death and resurrection -
Why should I gain from His reward -
I cannot give an answer -
But this I know with all my heart -
His wounds have paid my ransom. -

A song which brought me to sobs was sung solo at a Gaither family reunion by a tenor from a quartet acapella:
When He was on the Cross
I'm not on an ego trip
I'm nothing on my own
I make mistakes and often slip
Just common flesh and bone
but I'll prove someday just what I say
I'm of a special kind
When He was on the cross
I was on His mind
The look of love was on His face
this world for His death
the blood was on His scarlet robe
and it stained it crimson red
Though His eyes were on the crowd that day
He looked ahead in time
for while He was on the cross
I was on His mind
He knew me
yet He loved me
He Who's glory makes the heavens shine
while He was on the cross, I was on His mind
I'm so unworthy
of such mercy
still while He was on the cross
I was on His mind.
I couldn't find a copy on YouTube but this is the closest rendition to the original that I heard that day.

nobody else seems to be doing the song justice.

I was introduced to these guys at a Christian camp retreat. They're a bunch of good ol' Okies and I just love their style and message. Another of my favorites by them is called 'Swingin' Bridge'
Now that you've got me on the topic, I think I'm going to have to post and article on the music I like. Rarified country worship. Very few bands concentrate on this specific a genre but it is great to find a really good band that does.
I have been on spiritual retreats this week. This is a lovely addition. I'll look up JudgeBob's song.
